It is the intent
of the Leadership Institute Program to provide a foundation of
knowledge that potential leaders will use to aid their involvement
in community affairs. The effectiveness of personal involvement
in the future development of the area can be enhanced through
increased knowledge of the community’s history, citizenry and
social, economic and political make-up.
Purpose
The purpose of Leadership Institute is to identify and motivate
emerging leaders by developing their potential for community
leadership.
Objective
The objective of the Leadership Institute Program is to encourage
the participants to actively engage in future activities that
contribute to the growth and betterment of the community.
Eligibility
For consideration in the Leadership Institute Program, priority
will be given to applicants who live or work in the Alvin-Manvel
area and who have demonstrated leadership potential in
organizations or activities related to the betterment of the
community. Additional applications will be considered based on
available class space.
Applications must be received no later than
5:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010. No applicant will be
excluded from consideration on the basis of race, color, national
origin, age, sex, religion, or disability.
Attendance Requirements
An applicant to this program should seriously consider the time
commitment involved. Attendance in program activities is mandatory
to receive the certificate of completion. It is expected that a
participant shall attend every program session
in its entirety.
Out of courtesy to our program guest speakers and hosts,
promptness is expected.
Absenteeism
Unforeseen professional and personal conflicts do arise from time
to time. Program participants must promptly notify one of the
Program Chairs if they are unable to participate in a scheduled
program activity. In lieu of this absence, the program participant
will be required to complete a supplemental project presentation
or activity to maintain their eligibility in the program. A
participant’s excessive absenteeism may result in their removal
from the Leadership Institute Program.
Program Fees
The fee for participating in the nine month Leadership Institute
Program is $500 for Chamber members and $550 for non-Chamber
members. This non-refundable program fee underwrites a portion of
the handout materials provided, meals and refreshments, and other
program activities. Program fees are due and payable once an
applicant is accepted into the program.
